Syria: Presidential "Elections" tomorrow

From Homeland Security NewsWire:

Syria to hold presidential elections

June 3 2014

Syria will hold presidential elections on Tuesday, in the midst of a 3-year conflict which has killed more than 160,000 people and forced nine million from their homes. This is not a presidential elections in the Western sense, since President Bashar al-Assad is certain to win a third 7-year term. The only question about this sham election — which is being held only in areas under the government control — is the size of victory the election commission will decide to give Assad this time around: in 2000 he won with 99 percent of the vote, and in 2007 he won with 98.2 percent of the vote. The opposition is not taking part in the elections.
